Funeral Arrangements
On behalf of the Parish Community of St. Joseph Catholic Parish, we would like to extend our deepest sympathy at the loss of your loved one. Please know that we are here to help you and support you during this difficult time. Please, contact St. Joseph Parish office at 713-222-6193 with questions.
First Step in planning a Funeral is to call a local Funeral Home. If you decide to have a Mass of Christian Burial, the Funeral Home will contact the church to make the arrangements that are usually schedule during the weekdays at 10:00 a.m. in the parish.
We will assist you in the planning of the Mass of Christian Burial, Music, and Scripture Readings appropriate for Catholic Funeral Rite will be suggested.
Parts of Funeral Rite:
- Vigil and/or Rosary at the funeral home in the afternoon or evening.
- Mass of Christian Burial in the Church.
- Burial Rite at the cemetery.
Cremation
If possible the Mass should be done with the body present before cremation. Many funeral homes don’t make this an option but you can request it. If this is not possible a memorial Mass with the ashes present is encouraged. Church law requires the cremated remains be laid to rest in consecrated ground, either buried or kept in a mausoleum.
